Neiman Marcus collection

Distinctive handmade albums showcase memories

HOUSTON, Texas -- December 3, 2012 -- Bella Becho Book and Print Bindery (“Bella Becho”) is adding more pages to its bookbinding success story as it announces its new relationship with The Neiman Marcus Group, Inc. (“Neiman Marcus”) for an exclusive collection of custom photo albums.

Three styles of custom photo albums will be carried by 40 Neiman Marcus stores nationwide.  Each album has 25 acid-free pages that hold 50 memorable 4 x 6 photographs.  The collection includes the best-selling “Velvet Leaves”, a luxurious fabric album that is embellished with a French style tassel; a blue silk album adorned with a gold crystal turtle; and an iridescent platinum silk edition featuring an owl figurine with encrusted jewels.

“There is a natural fit between Bella Becho and Neiman Marcus”, offered Bella Becho’s owner, Deborah Karchmer.  “Both stand for exceptional quality and customer service.  I grew up shopping at Neiman Marcus with my mother where the Neiman Marcus standard of quality was expected.  My mother inspired me to work hard, believe in myself and have high standards in whatever I did.  These custom photo albums are, in some ways, a tribute to her.”

“There is no replacement for sitting on a couch and browsing through an album while sharing stories.   Spending quality time with friends and family is what life is about.  These albums compliment and showcase such memories.  We think that Neiman Marcus customers across the country will connect with our products.”

BOOKS OF LIFE

Deborah Karchmer has always been interested in art. “Oh, I’d paint the whole house,” she laughs. “Tables, walls, chairs. My husband is so happy now that I’m doing this.”
By “this,” she means Bella Becho, her book-creation and binding business where she handcrafts memory books, photo albums, scrap books and book covers. She started about seven years ago and since then has moved from her kitchen table to the garage to a 3,500-square-foot showroom and print bindery up in Houston’s Heights area. Her work is available at stores throughout the region and she sells at fairs and festivals.
You can also order online and her books promise to be an exquisite addition to anyone’s home. She says these are the books that hold your memories, the stories of your favorite times and people. They are also beautiful works of art.
“You might stick an old leather photo album in a drawer or on a shelf,” she says. “But these, you display. You put them out on your coffee table and they become conversation pieces.”

Holly Beretto, writer for Change Magazine

"When I find a great gift idea, I like to share. Deborah Karchmer is an artist who creates the most exquisite photograph albums and bound books of all types. Every one is a work of art. She will also create a unique one if you have a special request or theme. There are designs that every woman would love and some fantastic ones with a male theme. They begin at $40 and I promise will become family heirlooms."
